Epping Kent st BoroniaPark_b_2

The existing concrete grandstand has been enhanced by the addition of Roocycle seating slats that curve nicely with the lines of the existing structure. Roocycle was chosen as the material of choice as it is hard wearing, long lasting, requires zero maintenance and has the added benefit of being a sustainable construction solution. By choosing Roocycle to upgrade this grandstand, approximately 1.5 tonnes of waste has been diverted from landfill.

The wood plastic composite Roocycle material has been chosen as the construction material as it provides a long service life with zero maintenance required. This makes it the ideal choice for such a construction project with the charcoal colour blending nicely into the natural bushland environment.

Project Completion: ‘The Coal Loader’ Roocycle ET Staircase Link, Waverton

Coal Loader - 1

The Coal Loader, itself, is a former industrial site that operated from the early 1920s to the early 1990s. It functioned primarily as a transfer depot for coal from bulk carriers to smaller coal-fired vessels. The site operated for over 70 years before being decommissioned It was dedicated as public open space in 1997 and formally transferred to North Sydney Council in 2003.

Since this time, the site has been transformed into the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability, an exciting regional community resource in Waverton.

Coal Loader Finished 3

As part of the project, a series of steps and landings were required to link Balls Head Rd and Balls Head Dr through an existing nature reserve leading up to the Coal Loader.

Coal Loader Finished 2

Roocycle ET, produced from recycled wood and plastic was the logical choice of building material. It’s structural qualities and broad range of profiles enabled the entire staircase link to be constructed from Roocycle ET. Around 4,000kgs of Roocycle ET was used to construct this project thus diverting waste that would have otherwise ended up as landfill.

All components including stringers, sub-floor structure, hand rails, treads and decking are dressed Roocycle ET.

Total length of staircase is 42m x 1.2m wide with handrails both sides.

Project Progress Report: Woy Woy Landfill Shelter

Woy Woy - 1

Currently under construction this shelter is built entirely from recycled wood waste and plastic, diverting  4.3 tonnes of landfill into a useful, long-lasting community facility.

It has  been designed, engineered and certified with all Roocycle ET profiles being manufactured to specific lengths minimising wasteful offcuts of material.

Woy Woy - 2

The shelter is designed to be an information centre looking out over the landfill operations and  will also include noticeboards made from Roocycle ET wood/plastic composite.

A colourbond roof will be installed with a water tank at the back. Be sure to keep an eye on the Moodie Outdoor Products blog to see the pictures of the completed shelter in the next couple of weeks.
