Sports Shelters

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of some Sports Shelters in Ipswich, Queensland. The Sports Shelters were supplied in pre-fabricated form and constructed on site to minimise the disruption to the playing fields. The all steel shelter includes perforated screening to provide added protection from the elements. Aluminium seating was also installed on this project.

These shelters can also be utilised as a bus stop shelter. Glass can be used to replace the perforated steel screening.

Project Completion – Curtin University Cantilever Shelter

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of an inline cantilevered shelter at Curtin University. The all aluminium shelter measures an impressive 15m long and 3m wide. The modular design allowed for easy creation of the large shelter – 3 shelters @5x3m connected inline to create the 15x3m shelter.

Polycarbonate roof sheeting was installed to provide protection from the elements. The polycarbonate sheeting reduces the heat by 75%, UV rays by 99% and is 250 times stronger then glass.

The structural anodised aluminium engineered structure has been designed to withhold over 125 km winds and certified to Australian Standards.

Lighting and mains power has been integrated into the shelter.

Moodie Outdoor Products also supplied the stainless steel bike hoop racks for this project.

Cantaport Shelter

Project Completion: Shelters & Settings

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the installation of two Shelter with Setting combinations for Parramatta City Council.

Council opted for the Canley Vale curved roof shelter to cover the Piazza Accessible setting which features Satin Black powdercoated frame with Spotted Gum timber slats.

Moodie’s supplied all components in kit form which meant that the shelter was installed and the concrete slab was poured within a day. Once the concrete had dried the Piazza setting was installed.

Project Completion – Church St Park, Blakehurst

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the installation of a picnic shelter and table settings on behalf of Kogarah City Council at the Church St Park in Blakehurst.

The project was completed on an existing concrete slab using a 4x8m pre-fabricated Skillion Shelter kit and two of the Piazza Accessible table settings finished with spotted gum timber slats.

The Skillion shelter features a hot dipped gal frame clad with hardwood posts. Hardwood screening is also incorporated. Being a pre-fabricated kit means that installation time is greatly reduced thus minimising the impact to the public.

Recent QLD Projects

Annangrove Reserve Shelter

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the installation of a shelter at Annangrove Reserve. The Hills Shire Council required a custom made pre-fabricated shelter to fit onto an existing raised concrete water tank.

A Northcote Hexagonal Gazebo was chosen as the basis of the shelter. The shelter was then customised to be fixed to the top of the concrete tank. The shelter is 8.5m in diameter and as fabricated using hot dip galvanised steel RHS rafters with hot dip galvanised steel posts. The roof consists of pre-cut colourbond roof cladding with 3 polycarbonate panels included to allow natural light into the shelter.

Project Update: Caroline Chisholm Reserve Upgrade

Moodie Outdoor Products is currently undertaking the upgrade of Caroline Chisholm Reserve at Winston Hills. The project involves the installation of two 3x3m Buller Skillion shelters. The shelters feature steel posts hot dip galvanised and powder coated. The roof members are timber and colourbond roofing panels provide protection from the elements.

Furniture throughout the park is from the Alley range and features dressed Roocycle seat slats. These seats will continue to look great year after year with zero maintenance required.

The final component of the reserve upgrade is the construction of a deck. The substructure of the deck is constructed entirely out of Roocycle ET. The decking boards are Roocycle Enviro. Roocycle is the perfect material for the construction of this deck as it is hard wearing, long lasting, requires zero maintenance and has the added benefit of being a sustainable construction solution. As Roocycle is non-permeable it can be installed directly into the ground without ever rotting away.

In all, approximately 4.5 tonnes of waste materials have been diverted from landfill!
