Project completion – custom walkway to bridge connection

Moodie Outdoor Products successfully designed and installed a custom walkway and bridge connection in Granville, NSW. Walkway was constructed using Roocycle recycled plastic as bearers, and FRP for the joists and decking.

The site was challenging being situated alongside a storm water channel. The soil was loose fill and required screw pier foundations down to as much as 6 metres to meet engineers specifications. The bicycle compliant rail was a Moddex galvanised steel BS45 bike rail balustrade.

Pedestrian Access Ramp

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the installation of a Pedestrian Walkway at the Chisholm Centre in Winston Hills, NSW.

The walkway is 50 lineal metres and has been constructed at 1.8m wide to provide easy access for all. The substructure has been constructed using Roocycle ET to provide a long lasting maintenance free walkway.

FRP micromesh was used for the deck as it is non-slip and maintenance free. Black powdercoated balustrading and stainless steel handrails finish off the walkway nicely.

Roocycle Boardwalk and Fence

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of a Roocycle Boardwalk and associated fencing at the Emerald Hills Estate, Leppington.

The boardwalk is 30m long and 3.2m wide. It features concrete columns (above 1 in 100 yr flood level), hot dip galvanised steel posts and bearers. Joists are FRP material with Roocycle ET used for the posts, decking and handrail. Balustrading is black pool style fence with custom corten steel Emerald Hills logo inserts.

A matching style fence was also installed in the vicinity of the boardwalk. The end result is striking to say the least.

Project Completion – Corpus Christie Catholic Primary School – Roocycle Access Ramp

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed a project for Corpus Christie Catholic Primary School. The school required an ramp with disable access to join 2 x levels within the school grounds.

The ramp would also be required to retain soil as there was a garden that divided the 2 x levels. Roocycled wpc materials ticked all the boxes as the product is non-permeable, will not rot, split, crack or warp. It is manufactured from co-mingled particles of wood waste and recycled plastic.

The popular combination of Roocycle ET for the structure and Enviro decking was used for the construction. Engineering certification was provided for the design and the ramp was constructed to a 1:14 gradient with level landings where required.

In total 4.8 tonnes of material was diverted from landfill to complete this project.

‘The Esplanade’ at Balmoral Beach, Mosman

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the upgrade of an old timber boardwalk that had rotten away and had become a hazard to the public.

Council required a durable, long lasting and low maintenance solution. The answer was the range of Roocycle materials. Council opted for Roocycle Eniro Decking in Ash colour with the supporting sub-structure made from Roocycle ET.

Overall the boardwalk was 1.8m wide and 12m long.

Project Completion: Roocycle Boardwalk, Stage 2 – Fred Hollows Reserve, Randwick

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of Stage 2 of a Roocycle WPC boardwalk at Fred Hollows Reserve in Randwick. Total length of the boardwalk for Stage 2 is 88m. The complete boardwalk, including structural elements (posts, bearers, joists, stringers, decking, handrail and seating) is constructed entirely from Australian made Roocycle composites. The boardwalk has been designed and engineered in accordance with Australian Standards and to meet site specific requirements.

The wood plastic composite Roocycle material has been chosen as the construction material as it provides a long service life with zero maintenance required. This makes it the ideal choice for such a construction project with the charcoal colour blending nicely into the natural bushland environment. Roocycle is a 95% recycled material made with recycled plastic and timber waste materials. It is also 100% recyclable making it a sustainable construction material. This project alone means that 10.3 tonnes of waste material have been diverted from landfill!

Roocycle Boardwalk – 6 years on

6 years ago Moodie Outdoor Products constructed a boardwalk out of the Roocycle range of materials. Providing access to the main beach in the town of Pottsville the boardwalk has been exposed to the elements. 6 years on the boardwalk is still in great condition with no visible signs of ageing. No maintenance has been required during that time.

The grooved surface of the material is ideal for this environment as it greatly increases the slip resistance of the material.
