Project completion: Fully enclosed FRP pedestrian bridge, Erina, NSW

Fully enclosed FRP pedestrian bridge providing fully secure access between shopping centre and adjacent enclosed structure.

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the supply and installation of a fully enclosed FRP (Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer) pedestrian bridge in Erina, NSW. The single span bridge is 9m long, 2m wide, 2.5m high enclosed roof, and engineered to 4kPa.

The specification for a fully enclosed FRP bridge was to enable secure access between the shopping centre tenant and an adjacent outdoor structure. SecureMax mesh panels were installed for enhanced security of retail goods whilst traversing the bridge.

Project completion: FRP pedestrian bridge at Erina, NSW

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the supply and installation of an FRP (Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer) pedestrian bridge in Erina, NSW. The single span bridge is 9m long with 2.5m clear width between handrails, and engineered to 4kPa.

Bridge was entirely constructed from FRP components and floor panels. SecureMax mesh added to internal walls.

The bridge was assembled on site from a flat-pack, and then craned into position. SecureMax mesh panels were installed for maximum protection of pedestrians.

Installation was conducted at night after the shopping centre had closed and utilised a large crane to lift the FRP bridge into position.

Project completion – Nambour 18m pedestrian bridge

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the supply and installation of a Riesling steel bridge in Nambour, Qld.

The single span bridge is 18m long with 1.5m clear width between handrails to facilitate a creek crossing for pedestrians. The bridge is designed to 5kPa pedestrian loading with HDG (hot-dip galvanised) steel balustrade panels, cycle rails, and FRP mini-mesh decking.

Manufactured and factory assembled by Outside Products, the bridge was transported to site by two semi-trailers, and craned into position through heavy tree coverage.

Project completion – Grafton 26m pedestrian bridge

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the supply and installation of a Riesling steel bridge in Grafton, NSW.

The single span bridge is 26m long with 2.5m clear width between handrails to facilitate a shared pathway for pedestrians and bicycles. The bridge is designed to 5kPa pedestrian loading with HDG (hot-dip galvanised) steel balustrade panels, cycle rail, and FRP mini-mesh decking.

Manufactured by Outside Products with factory assembly, transported by three semi-trailers, and craned into position.

All factors related to the river and its banks are taken into account when planning the bridge installation.
A crane lifts the single span bridge with careful final positioning onto the abutments.
The bridge is attached to concrete abutments.

Severe Coastal Pedestrian Bridges

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of 3 Pedestrian Bridges that were required to link up concrete paths at Sanctuary Point, NSW in a severe coastal environment.

Lengths varied between 7 & 9m’s and were all 2.5m’s long with clear width of 2.2m’s between cycle rails. Due to being severe coastal selection of materials was crucial to provide a durable low maintenance solution. The bridges were constructed using the following:

  • Beams – 475x225mm FRP single span beams
  • Decking – FRP micro mesh 30mm
  • Balustrade  – Roocycle ET posts and top rail, PC aluminium pool fence style balustrade between posts.

Project Completion – Mawson Pedestrian Bridge

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the supply and installation of a Mawson Pedestrian Bridge at Hunts Creek in North Rocks, NSW.

The bridge is 12.6m long with 2m clear width between handrails. Geotechnical reports were undertaken and the bridge was designed with non-collapsible balustrades as per flood reports.

The bridge is designed to 5kPA pedestrian loading with HDG steel balustrade panels with 20mm CHS vertical balusters at 125mm centres. Hardwood capping rail. Hot dipped galvanised steel construction including joists.

Roocycle Bridge for Taronga Zoo

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the supply and installation of a small Pedestrian Bridge in the rain forest bird aviary at Taronga Park Zoo. The existing timber bridge was dilapidated and slippery as it was in the rain forest environment.

The 3.2m long x 2.1m wide timber bridge was replaced with Roocycle ET structure and handrail with Roocycle EN 150×50 decking boards treated with Traction Sealer to achieve P5 slip rating. Also installed was the stainless steel cable balustrade.

Project Completion – Emerald Hills Stage 2 Pedestrian Bridge

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of the Emerald Hills Stage 2 Pedestrian Bridge. This was a design and construct project.

The bridge itself is 22m long and 2.8m wide. It features galvanised steel posts, bearers and cycle rails. Joists are Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic. Decking and handrail posts are Roocycle ET. Balustrading is powdercoated black with Corten steel infill panels featuring the Emerald Hills logo.

Project Completion – Pedestrian Bridge

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of a Pedestrian Bridge in Artarmon, NSW.

The bridge is an Outside Products Mawson Steel Beam Bridge and measures 8m long and 1.5m wide. The bridge features hot dip galvanised steel beams, bearers,joists handrails and balustrading. The client opted for ACQ treated hardwood decking. Sandstone blocks were installed as steps up onto the bridge.

Project Completion – Derby Cable Suspension Bridge

Cable Suspension Bridge Dorset 5

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of a 63m clear span Cable Suspension Bridge for Dorset Council in Tasmania.

The bridge forms part of the BlueDerby mountain bike trails…the largest network of mountain bike trails currently in Australia. The bridge is just under 2m wide allowing for bike riders and pedestrians to easily pass each other by on the bridge.

All fabrication works for the bridge are completed in the factory and shipped to site. Fully engineered bridge abutments are installed before the bridge components are shipped to site. From there it is a matter of erecting the main portals and installing the main support cable from one side to the other. Once that is complete the bridge is constructed from one side to the other.

All steel work is galvanised and the bridge deck is installed using FRP mesh product.

As you can see from the pictures the bridge is functional and does not detract from the natural beauty of the surrounding environment!
