Moodie Outdoor Products recently supplied a range of Roocycle EN materials to Cairns City Council for the upgrade of a retaining wall at Clifton Beach. As you can see from the photo below, the existing retaining wall constructed with Treated Pine had failed and was in need of replacement.
Roocycle EN is a wood plastic composite material and was selected by council to build a retaining wall that is long lasting, requires no maintenance and is made using sustainable materials. An added benefit of selecting Roocycle EN material is that 2.0 tonnes of waste materials has been diverted from landfill.
The entire retaining wall was constructed using 200x50mm sleepers. The vertical posts are 1.8m long and the wall was constructed with 4 horizontal sleepers to provide 0.8m wall height (with 2 sleepers buried).
